Ceramic brings a softer, more decorative quality into a bathroom than porcelain typically offers. The clay it is made from is more malleable, which lends itself to richer colour, pattern, and a slightly handmade feel, exactly what you want in a room where you are choosing tiles for how they make you feel as much as how they perform. Green, blue, pink, and warm neutral tones are consistently the colours our customers reach for in a bathroom, and ceramic carries all of them beautifully.
A common approach is to use a large format ceramic tile across the floor and most walls for a calm, easy to maintain backdrop, then bring in a smaller decorative ceramic tile as a feature, inside a shower niche, behind a basin, or across one statement wall. Bear in mind that polished or high gloss finishes can be slippery underfoot when wet, so for bathroom floors specifically we would usually steer you toward a naturally finished or textured tile instead. Tiled surfaces also outlast painted ones in a room that sees this much moisture.
