Shower Niche Tiles

Usually, shower niches are placed around 48 inches or 1.2m from the shower floor, on a wall that is inside the shower. This makes them easily reachable.

Shower self inserts are a great way to add a storage place to your shower without having to make changes to the tiling. However, if you are tiling your shower wall, we advise that you pick a shower wall niche as it is more space efficient and elegant than a shelf that protrudes from the wall.

There are a few different ways you can design your tiled shower cubby. Most niches sit within the stud wall, and are square or slightly rectangular. However, if you want more of a design statement, opt for a vertical or horizontal shower niche.

Horizontal shower niches can be more complicated to build, but they create a sweeping modern feel and are great if you need more storage.

Vertical shower niches are usually easier to install, and can offer that extra storage if you install recessed shower shelves within them.

This is an important consideration as it can be so easily overlooked! We suggest you pick out some of the largest bottles you plan to store in the niche, measure their height, and add an extra 8-10cm to ensure they are easy to grab (or pump if they are pump-action bottles).
