Brick-shaped tiles bring a classic, versatile format to a kitchen, working beautifully as a splashback behind the hob just as much as underfoot.
For the floor, large format porcelain is the practical choice, available in wood, stone, cement, and plain effects, and easy to wipe clean through daily use. A brick-shaped decorative tile works brilliantly on a splashback or surround, and in a smaller kitchen, carrying that same shape onto the floor can add real character. Since the kitchen sees more spills than any other room in the house, a tiled surface remains the most sensible way to protect it. Layout does a lot of the work here too: a herringbone splashback reads quite differently from a simple stacked bond.
