As we have mentioned before in previous blog posts, two styles can often merge into one, a popular pairing is urban and industrial. Here at Baked Tile Co we see many clients with many different briefs for many different styles, but when tackling urban/industrial homes, often their definitions of those styles can be much the same.
Here's a short guide on how to separate your urban from your Industrial and get yourselves back on track with your tile selections!
Tip 1: If the look you seek is rustic with exposed copper pipe work, for example, then don't add slick tiles, even if they are in a concrete effect, especially if you pair it with plain white walls. Spaces like that will appear to be very urban and suit minimalist, large format tiling like our Urban Concrete for example. Keep the exposed copper piping with the bare brick detailing in industrial spaces!
Tip 2: Make sure when you’re tiling walls you're pairing the right tiles with the right style of home. For example, our East End Brick Red would look right at home in a full on industrial setting!
If you wish to add an element of industrial styling into a more urban setting, then consider one feature brick wall. In this instance a less rustic tile in contemporary tones would look great. Here we have used our Urban brick Nature.
Tip 3: Tiles can make or break a scheme so If you’re going industrial, think brick, distressed and aged - you could even be more creative and opt chipboard or distressed wood effect tiles.
One of our wonderful customers has obviously embraced industrial styling, here is a shot of her newly renovated kitchen fearuring Town and country brick tiles, with Canvas décor on the floor!
